Another Birthday Card

My daughter-in-law has a birthday the same days as yours....hers is getting hand delivered this weekend, so its going to be late too...LOL...but I had planned on that one. This card came from a Pin on someones board and it looked quick and easy. But I don't remember who the original card was done by.  The cake clipart came from Tracy Ann Designs and the dictionary page is mine.  Pretty simple!  I should have used a different background for the photo shoot but I have too much on my plate right now to take it over again.  It looks great in real life.  I'm ready to hang the camera up...

  1. I like the simplicity of this one and I love the colors. Good job.
Don't hang that camera up clean the dust off of it and take more shots.

  2. Thank you! I thought you might like to know how I did the dictionary page. I printed the cake and the sentiment off on regular paper first. I also added a beige background behind the cake and sentiment because my dictionary page was too new...LOL....wanted a more aged, old look to it. I then used Scotch double sided removable tape to put the dictionary page on top of my printed out sheet. Sent it all through the printer again and this is how it came out. I LOVE that removable tape! I then printed the cake four times and cut it apart and added pop up dots so that it had a raised look.

Just finished up my father's day card...will post an image later. Need to mow yard today (or should I say mow the weeds..)

  3. to put the dictionary page on top of my printed out sheet. Sent it all through the printer again and this is how it came out.....Clear as mud.

So you printed the beige background, cake and sentiment then taped the dictionary page on top of that and ran it back through the printer - printing the beige background, cake and sentiment on top of the dictionary page. I can get my head around it but the card looks good.

  4. Correct...I'm sorry I can't explain things better. When I want something printed on an object that is too small for the printer, I print the wording or clipart out first. Then I put the printed paper up to the window and position my object over 'that' printed page and adhere it to it with reposition tape. (This is tape that can be removed without tearing the paper) I then run the paper with the additional object (or in this case the dictionary page) back through the printer and print it all again. Say I have a small circle that I want Happy Birthday printed on. I can't run the circle through the printer (its too small and not shaped right...lol) but I can print 'Happy Birthday' on printer paper, position and tape my circle over the words and run it back through and print it again. If I run my printer paper back through it prints it in exactly the same spot as before so with the object(circle) taped to the wording, it will then print on the object (circle). Remove and use! I can't think of any way to word this so it makes more sense, sorry!

  5. I understand now....I wasn't think about the the first printing as a guide for the second printing. Good thinking.

  7. Looking forward to a picture tutorial I do better by seeing something done.
I'm taking Karri Bradford's Silhouette Designer Edition class at Jessica Sprague's link but I've only had time to go over a couple of lessons and haven't made anything yet.
