Fall is time for Apple Pie

Made this Dutch Apple Pie yesterday and was going to get another snap of a piece cut out with ice cream on top but it got to late by the time we were ready to eat it the I didn't have the light anymore.
You'll just have to imagine how it looks on a nice plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Brent's Dad is visiting for a few days and he didn't leave a drop on his plate so he must have liked it.

Neal brought me the apples and recipe, it's the one he always uses.

DUTCH APPLE PIE

PIE:
3/4 c. sugar                                       2 tsp. ground cinnamon
6-7 c. apples, pared and sliced      1 1/2 Tbsp. butter, optional
1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour                 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 unbaked pie shell

TOPPING:
1/2 c. butter                                       1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour                                   1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
For the pie, mix sugar, cinnamon and flour; mix in apples.    Heap in unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle vanilla over top of apple mixture; dot with butter.

Mix all topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over apple mixture.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes. or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.

  1. Sorry, Sorry, Sorry....I saw where you had posted this on Saturday on my phone while I was at Gavin's ball tournament but it wouldn't let me respond then....and then I forgot until now that I hadn't commented! It looks yummy....the apples are really good right now and pie is a great way to prepare them. I made Apple Dapple Pudding but I haven't figured out where the pudding comes in...LOL...but we still liked it really well.

    1. Forgot to tell you...I found my tracker....minus the clip that holds it so I'm going to see if I can just replace that. I think it still works!

  2. It was yummy. I have been eating an apple every evening and using almond butter as a dip....makes a pretty nice snack with few calories.
    Glad you found your tracker.
We have been so busy. Had Brent's dad for 3 days then my brother stop and dropped off 4 pairs of pants for me to hem then Zach stayed all night last night and I had to wash his football uniform at 9:00 last night. My brother came back today to get his pants then I went to the store to get stuff to fix for sorority meeting here tomorrow even and I'm trying to pack to leave on Thur. Don't think I'm going to make it.
