I'm going to take a guess and say this is some kind of mushroom. It completely covers this tree and I liked the color contrast between it and the green behind. This is one time I really wished I had my tripod with me cause my big lens is so hard to hold steady.
I think you are right. I could go look it up but I'm not going to.

My 100mm macro seems heavier out on the front end than the 70 -300 but maybe it's just me. I sway all other the place.
It's my 70-300 that is so heavy and SO hard to hold steady. My cheap 70-300 isn't half the weight as the new G lens is. My 90mm isn't bad at all but my favorite is the 50 mm...nothing heavy about it at all! LOL
