The Shasta Daisy Clumps

...

The clumps of Shasta Daisy and Coneflower.  I've tried for years to get the Shasta Daisy to grow like this and its finally paying off.  These clumps have now been growing on their own for the past 3 years.  Love them!

  1. So what did you do to them?
I have tried and can't get them to grow. This looks like it's full sun so maybe that the problem my bed all get a good bit of shade with all the trees in the yard.
    Looks so good.

  2. I've planted a least a dozen Daisy here over the years....they would die out over the winter and I'd plant again. These clumps are at least 3 years old and I'm thinking it has more to do with all our snow now. When I first started planting them there, we were going through our drought spell where we had next to nothing in moisture for about 7 years..no rain in the summer, no snow in the winter. But, the last 3 winters have had lots of snow and its stayed on the ground all winter. So....I'm thinking it's the added moisture PLUS the insulation of the snow. That's my thoughts anyway.
Thanks! They are beginning to look a bit ragged now since we're having this horrible heat wave. And, yes, they are in full sun. If we don't get rain this week, I'm going to give them a good drink this weekend.
